Apparently, in the Theatre of the Grand Guignol:

Animal eyeballs were purchased from taxidermists, not only for visual realism (when a character's eyes were gouged out), but for the organs' ability to bounce when they hit the stage floor.

I'm still surprised and delighted by running across (while poking around in a secondhand bookshop where I had credit, on Friday) a very helpful book about the Grand Guignol, which is proving invaluable in writing about it. Very serendipitous.

Other than that, it's been an extremely quiet day and an extremely lazy day. This is good.

Currently rereading Freedom And Necessity by Brust and Bull. Excellent book. I find that I had forgotten most of the plot, but given the amount of plot, this is hardly surprising.

Back to work tomorrow. Ah well. Go me.
