side notes

Went to see The Golden Compass with my mother. We agreed that while there were some very nice high notes, the plot itself had been so thinned as to be near nonexistent. Fun movie, wonderful armoured bears, good Mrs Coulter and Lyra, pleasant watching. But I don't think I'd bother buying the DVD.

Sweeney Todd not out here yet, alas.

Also, have cold. Snerf.

I enjoyed Sweeny Todd, despite the fact that it's firmly convinced me that I cannot abide Stephen Sondheim's music. His lyrics are clever, by half, but the music was overbearing (the brass in particular) and gave me a headache. I didn't care for Assassins either, so I guess Into the Woods remains an aberration.
