Hm. Tosca was first performed in January 1900, which is rather later than the apparent eighteenth century Venice that my heroine is currently poling around in. Then again, when you are Fae and you're arranging the world and country to suit your artistic whims, who cares about being slightly anachronistic when it comes to having the perfect opera for the night?
On a different note, something which I am writing down here so as not to forget it. One of the quilts at the quilt show - well, from a distance, I could see a woman in a beautifully shaded dress, in some sort of woodland setting. Then when I got closer, I saw that her dress was made up of appliqued flowers, and there was an owl perched on one of the branches overhead. "Blodeuwedd," I muttered to myself.
And then I got closer still, and saw that the title of the quilt was Blodeuwedd. I felt so smug. It's always so satisfying when you get a reference, and especially when you do it before you have to be told.
