So in a few spare moments today my mind was wandering, as minds do, about what might happen if the St Trinians girls were to wander into one or another fictional setting, and I found myself imagining some of the cast of Bleach.

I promptly imagined them manning some sort of nice cheerful "lemonade stall" on a public sports day or similar school-visiting day, and selling glasses of homemade bathtub gin to members of Eleventh Division who knew to ask for "the good stuff" and pay a bit extra.

Then I imagined Yamamoto-soutaichou wandering over, and them doing their best to look innocent and offer him a glass of proper (rather watered-down) lemonade. Except that he twitched those massive eyebrows, passed over an extra pound, and requested "the good stuff".

And he then walked away with a paper cup of ostensible lemonade to make polite conversation with the other school governors.

Life gets problematic when two people are cross-mapping morphology codes and there is only one morphology code index available. Fortunately Hazel remembered the location of a second one, and its titular owner (who is our team leader and will never use it) was persuaded to "donate" it. I promised to give it back. When we were finished. You know, eventually.

Okay. And this is cute. Bleach meets My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic. http://jberg18.deviantart.com/gallery/#/d41fuex

(Don't judge me!)

My boiler is having issues. Fortunately it's only the automatic part that's having issues: the manual provide-a-bit-of-extra-hot-water is still working fine, and therefore I don't have to worry about having no hot water at all, but I need to get a Samsung engineer in. (Apparently, since it is a Samsung boiler, you need a Samsung-certified engineer. Most annoying.)

Ah well. One more thing to sort out. It could be worse. And the regular boiler engineer guy who came out to look at it, and who told me that I'd need a Samsung engineer, was very nice and wouldn't take a callout fee, since he couldn't do anything to help. I must keep his phone number for reference.

Kazeshini,

I know you don’t like Tousen-taichou. There is nothing wrong with that. It is perfectly reasonable for a zanpakutou to have opinions that differ from his wielder’s opinions. (Though I’m not sure why Kyouraku-taichou was rolling his eyes so much when he was talking about his zanpakutou’s ‘personal tastes’ the other day.)

But.

Look. Please. Stop humming Mack the Knife while I’m working in the office and getting me to harmonise along with you. Tousen-taichou keeps on walking in just when we’re getting to the gory bits, and he’s been giving me some rather strange looks. As much as he ever does give people looks. You know what I mean.

Can’t we sing something peaceful and uplifting instead?

Um, quite a few behind the cut, I'm afraid. It's... been a while. And I'm not even trying to organise the drabbles that have accumulated (and yes, I still owe some from a few weeks ago. I blush for shame.) As for Winter War stuff, that's all under the index post.

Ensemble: Sneaking About

A quiet office with good lighting containing a single desk with an extra reading lamp, neat bookshelves along one wall, a comfortable couch, and several tables. Books, papers, and writing instruments covered the surface of the desk. Alcoves with trophies and art work filled a second wall. The third was taken up with an enormous white board, filled with graceful handwriting, working diagrams, and annotations in the symbols of kido.

Everywhere people moved, dust hung in the air.

Tried putting together a quilt top in the "Courthouse Steps" pattern. It actually looks rather good. I must remember this one. Three cheers for rolls of pre-cut strips in toning shades.

I have read the latest chapter of Bleach too, yes. The boys are back in town. ;) Even if the selected arrivals are probably deliberately chosen for audience-pleasing purposes, it's good to see them.

Oh, and here's a theory of mine about the Fullbringers (the latest sub-group of new characters), for the record:

Conspiracy theory time! )

"You are beyond mad," said Locke after several moments of silent, furious thought. "Full-on barking madness is a state of rational bliss to which you may not aspire. Men living in gutters and drinking their own piss would shun your company. You are a prancing lunatic."

The earring-making continues. Also got to watch chunks of the first episode of Sherlock again (great fun), an episode of Criminal Minds (tear-jerking), and the tail-end and beginning of a couple of utterly disposable films on the "SyFy" channel. (Then again, when does the SyFy channel ever have any other sort of film?)

Though when I say "watch", it was more "listen to in the background while I focus on turning loops and on trying to match a few nuggets or daggers. The good thing about buying a string of small polished chunky (nugget) or thin (dagger) pieces of semiprecious stones is that they cost a lot, lot, lot less than properly cut stones (smooth or faceted - faceted is even worse). But the problem is that when you want to make a pair of earrings which actually look relatively similar, or are at least vaguely the same length, is that you end up sorting through the whole pile, trying to find a somewhat-matching pair.

Oh well. They are pretty. And as I said, it's cheaper than buying properly cut aquamarines, garnets, amethysts, tourmalines, citrines, lapis lazuli, garnets, zoicite (yes, I do have some of that and it's quite pretty) and so on . . .

I have also, on another note, come to the conclusion that the reason for all Bleach filler episodes is that Yamamoto got fed up of Ichigo and friends running around the place, and got Urahara to build a holodeck and shut them inside it. They're happily having adventures in there saving the world from multiple unknown factions of hitherto undiscovered enemies, having to fight evil duplicate Captains, running into everyone's zanpakutou suddenly taking human form, and so on, while outside Yamamoto can sip tea and do some serious wartime planning about the current situation, without having to worry about the idiot kids doing something stupid. Makes perfect sense.

Is it true what they say about Polythreme?

Polythreme is a city where some principle in the water or earth - they say - makes everything live. This makes it a hellish place. Candles scream as they burn. Furniture is enslaved wood. Buildings are hollow shells of misery. The Clay Men are sold by Polythreme - or perhaps they escape.
