Thank goodness for the internet. What would I do without it?
In this case, the reference is to being able to do things like look up information about the history of the New York metro, or maps of the New York metro, or similar. Given that I remember the days of pre-internet, and having to manage solely with reference books and libraries... I truly appreciate being able to get basic information just like that. Though I do also have several reference books to hand...
Someone noticed that in book one I have Irene referring to a broken arm and to the tibia in the same breath. In a desperate attempt to maintain accuracy (rather than to admit quoting the wrong bone) I have decided that anatomy is not Irene's strong point, even if she is good at impromptu first aid. Character development!
