I just got some rather extensive redlines, and there goes my spare writing time for the next few weeks.

Felt somewhat seedy today. Am hoping (given the number of lurgies going round at work) that this is merely a passing shade of something or other. That, or going without crisps. Guess what I gave up for Lent?

I'm coming to the conclusion that one of the best bits about knitting with Noro Kureyon, which is a variegated yarn, is waiting for your favourite colours in the yarn to come around.

fade says "Hey, at least there aren't /dark/ kender. Then you could hit the kender and drow issues at the same time!"
fade says "...wait, tell me there aren't. Please tell me there aren't. Because if there are..."

Variegated yarns are marvelous. As are self-striping! One of the things I really love in making a sock is waiting for the next stripe to show up. "Oo, it's the gray-blue!" "Ooo, the really dark gray!" "Hey, it's time for the speckly bit with near-white and blue-gray dashes again!"

When I was visiting a friend in Seattle, I made a very primitive variegated yarn of my own: a very large quantity of sockweight wool, half the skein dyed in green Kool-Aid and the other half in blue. I'm not sure how large the stripes will actually be once I get a chance to work it up, but I'm looking forward to finding out. Probably very thin, pale stripes, but fun nonetheless.
