incandescensAll right. So in order to work on exorcising this latest obsession, I downloaded the free Inkscape utility (on a friend's recommendation) and have been messing around with it and trying it out.
I think I may need to read some help files and/or buy an instruction book.
On the positive side, I did manage to put this together from some separate butterfly clip art chunks from Dover, and used the "scale" and "rotate" functions. So I am now feeling unduly pleased with myself:

(For reference: all of the butterflies came from Full-Color Decorative Butterfly Illustrations.)
(For the record, I have also found out that Dover now has an online downloading facility, which is selling a lot of their books at a much cheaper price than the paper version, at http://doverpictura.com/ -- very reasonable prices. The only major drawback is that you can't just flip through the paper version of the book to choose pictures, which I admit is something I would want to do. Pros, cons...)
