Interesting new things I've learned today: what a gloubi-boulga is.

Finished a scarf - for myself, this time, though to be honest, that's mainly because there are a couple of errors in the body of the scarf and I don't want to give away something that imperfect. Also in retrospect I should have made it a bit narrower and thus a bit longer, but by the time that this was starting to visibly become an issue (ie, I was wondering if I'd have enough yarn to get it to a decent length) I'd already spent enough time on it that I didn't want to have to rip it back and redo the whole thing.

I am a lazy person. And the scarf is just about long enough as it is. And it's a pretty pink/purple mix.

My father pointed me at a review in French of The Invisible Library on amazon.fr, mainly to comment on how it spoke approvingly of its "dry humour". But the review started out like this, which made me look the word up myself:

L'auteur s'est beaucoup amusée à écrire ce premier roman, et cela se sent. Elle mêle gaillardement, avec brio, des thèmes porteurs : monde contemporain, monde 1900 steampunk mâtiné d'urban-fantasy, detective story, magie et mondes parallèles. Ça aurait pu être du gloubiboulga, mais pas du tout : le récit est maîtrisé, les personnages sont nuancés, les détails ont été pensés en profondeur, sans raccourcis faciles, c'est de la belle ouvrage !

A fictional recipe from a French children's tv show. Strawberry jam, melted chocolate, squashed banana, strong mustard, Toulouse sausage, and possible sixth ingredient. ;)
