Incidentally, French cash machines/ticket machines/etc show the word PATIENTEZ while working and while you're waiting for the next step in the process. While I technically appreciate that this is no different in meaning from PLEASE WAIT, I still found it rather touching.
Will try to go into more details (on the holiday) in the next entry. Have just been going through proof queries for American publisher on book 1, and have book 2 copy-edits (again, for American publisher) which will be keeping me busy for the next while. Book 4 will have to wait a bit longer. (Will Irene be able to avoid the mysterious thugs with tommy-guns? Will Kai be able to persuade her to cut her hair and wear short skirts and fringes? Next time, next chapter...)
