Alraune

I am looking up references about Hanns Heinz Ewers, and his novel Alraune, and mandrakes, because of a vague idea which needs expanding.

In other comments, work was very busy today, and will be for the next couple of days as well. It's what I refer to, with a morbid sense of humour, as "that time of the month" -- to be precise, the time when we need to get the entire previous month's data onto the system, and therefore run around like little chickens with long lists of patients on whom we require information. As in, why did they come to the hospital anyhow? And what did they have done to them? And has anyone seen their medical notes?

Gah. It'll happen. I'll cope. It'll be over.

In Hell today, demons of the Game were going on public strike for the right to use the Cruciatus curse on victims. Prince Asmodeus made a public statement that there was no such thing, and that any demon caught reading Harry Potter books for any reason other than criticising the errors committed by the forces of evil and the innate folly of the staff of Hogwarts, would suffer the full penalty for his treachery. He also stated that the Severus Snape Society was now formally outlawed, and that it was not cool to spy on the forces of darkness. Finally, he wished to state that it was not true that he was a Slytherin and Dominic was a Gryffindor.

(Okay, so you really need to know the In Nomine game to appreciate the whole of that. But.)

Okay, parcel now sent.

Work more or less under control. 2-hour meeting tomorrow is less appealing. Ah well. I can always practice drawing hiragana and katakana while looking intent and curious.

Got payment from WW for some earlier stuff, which is excellent. ;) That is, the payment is excellent. One would like to hope the stuff is also excellent.

It's being interesting, watching the discussion on the WW forums about Castebook Twilight's signature characters: apparently Arianna (whom I had a hand in writing), who is admittedly a cold-hearted power-hungry bitch, is much less popular than Lyta from Castebook Dawn, who is flat out insane and under the thumb of a sweet-talking Gold Faction Sidereal, and who likes to roast Dragon-Blooded alive between a pair of golden mirrors. Personally, I'd prefer Arianna of the two, but I'm not quite sure why some people like Lyta better. Interesting.

In the meantime . . . work is an excellent way of keeping one's mind occupied. I suppose Dominic's best-friend-from-childhood (or should that be best-rival-from-childhood?) should probably be an alchemist, for purposes of comparison . . .

Well, dinner would have been splendid... if the wine had been as cold as the soup, the beef as rare as the service, the brandy as old as the fish, and the maid as willing as the Duchess. -- Winston Churchill
