It is a sad reflection that I view a two-hour meeting this morning as tolerable. Tolerable on the grounds that at least it wasn't a three-hour meeting. Spent the less interesting, more diatribe-ridden parts of it busy making notes down the side of the agenda. Stuff like:

Orchids (carnivorous? poisonous?)
Clothing (robes/jackets/trousers)
Elephants
Floating market in middle of river
Amulets
Need to have cotton grown if they're going to wear cotton
Astrologer/astronomer king with trade-oriented wife?
University city sheltering demonic cultists
(and more in the same vein)

After all, there's nothing we can do about our current coding system; we paid (or rather, our managers paid) to get the cheap variant, we now have the cheap-and-tacky variant, we are stuck with it, and given that the hospital is broke anyhow (as are most hospitals) we are not going to be given money to purchase an upgrade. Simpler to resign myself to the fact, to cope with what we've got, and to ensure that I do not fall asleep in the middle of an excessively tedious meeting.

I did pay attention during the important bits, really.

Shaolin Soccer DVD arrived in the post this evening -- well, arrived this morning, but nobody was in, got left next door, was handed over this evening. Pedants. I'm saving it for the weekend.
