Jul. 23rd, 2003 12:34 amToday, she says casually, I was over on the Isle of Wight. Twenty minutes by ferry from Southampton. (The advantage of living in a port, or rather, in this particular port.) Visiting a hospital there to see how they'd implemented the Emergency Services Collaborative program. (I am currently data analyst for this program in the hospital where I work. Joy, oh joy.) Their huge big discovery seems to have involved putting a logbook in the A&E department so that the people there could scribble a quick note about any particular holdups or delays on the spot. It almost sounds too simple to be true, but then again, it sounds as if it works . . .

Isolation's no key to isolation:
The more rebuked, the stronger is desire,
And thus with all these things which come unwanted.
The more I seek, the less enjoyed my freedom.
Something's amiss here; where I should be strong
I find I shatter, break, corrupt, profane.
Profane a thing; become a thing profane;
I find no cure for this in isolation,
No sure redemption in remaining strong,
No satisfaction in refused desire,
By self constrained and bound, I have no freedom;
My very self I find now most unwanted.
