earlier than I meant
Jun. 29th, 2005 01:10 amThe rain is rapping long fingers on my window; thank goodness, it's cool enough to shut the windows now.
Today didn't go badly at all. The meetings were endurable and even useful. The really stupid bit was on my part in the morning. I'd been thinking that getting into work slightly early would be a good idea. Woke up. Noticed alarm clock showing 7am. Went back to sleep, intending to wake at 8am. Woke up. Vaguely perceived clock had advanced. Walked into work while noticing pleasantly cool morning air and less crowds on streets than normal. Perceived unnaturally few people at work. Turned on computer. Realised that computer clock was displaying 8am rather than 9am.
Um. Doh. Gah. Coffee! Coffee!
At least I've accumulated some extra flexitime. ;)
The sale at the local Virgin Megastore was a bit disappointing; all the standard stuff a bit reduced, a number of things one would be vaguely pleased at having, but nothing I particularly wanted. Interesting, by the way, how seeing something you really want clarifies your feelings about half a dozen other things you mildly desire. You go from thinking how nice they might be to thinking how you must have the other thing. Candlelight to sunlight.
Really must reread the Bleach manga I've got.

Snow
The room was suddenly rich and the great bay-window was
Spawning snow and pink roses against it
Soundlessly collateral and incompatible:
World is suddener than we fancy it.
World is crazier and more of it than we think,
Incorrigibly plural. I peel and portion
A tangerine and spit the pips and feel
The drunkenness of things being various.
And the fire flames with a bubbling sound for world
Is more spiteful and gay than one supposes -
On the tongue on the eyes on the ears in the palms of one's hands -
There is more than glass between the snow and the huge roses.
