The weather forecast is promising (a) more rain, (b) more heat, and the local papers are babbling about tropical storms and global warming and similar front-page filling stuff.

(Okay, so it was quite dramatic, by local standards.)

The presentation this morning was very interesting and showcased some excellent opportunities. Also some forthcoming hard work, but . . . this could be very interesting. I was much more attentive than I'd thought I might be.

Incidentally, roll on Saturday, and Vote Saxon. He may be an alien universe-conquering megalomaniac, but he's competent.

(I may have quoted the poem below before. I like it. It so frequently feels appropriate.)

The Lights Are On Everywhere

The Emperor must not be told night is coming.
His armies are chasing shadows,
Arresting whippoorwills and hermit thrushes
And setting towns and villages on fire.

In the capital, they go around confiscating
Clocks and watches, burning heretics,
And painting the sunrise over the rooftops
While the people wish each other good morning.

The rooster brought in chains is crowing.
The flowers in the garden have been made to stay open,
And still dark stains appear on palace floors
Which no amount of scrubbing can wipe away.
