At last I have a name for the villain in a story I'm writing.

. . . I think.

Oh, the agony of indecision.

Fence blown down in a winter storm
darkened by outstripped possession
field stretching out of the world
this book is as old as the people
There are traces of blood in a fairy tale

"You don't seem as surprised as the others that she escaped," Avon remarked.

The Doctor shrugged. "This Servalan seems a competent woman. I'm more surprised that you didn't try to shoot her." He gave Avon a disapproving look.

"I did," Avon said. "She ducked."

"Astonishing how few people have the sense to duck."

"Mm."

"Astonishing, in fact, how few people have any sense," the Doctor said. "I imagine that there are few minds out there who can truly challenge you -- or even appreciate you in a way that makes the appreciation worthwhile."

"You almost sound as if you understand."

"Almost."

"It's a heathen superstition and a commercialisation imported into the Christian faith," Laurence said passionately. "An excuse for gluttony and over-indulgence. An outright assault by Haagenti. I have vowed to purify the festival. Repeatedly."

"Yes," Christopher said. "I quite agree. So would you mind telling me why you and your friends from the Sword are here on my doorstep on Easter Sunday morning, with all those chocolate eggs and fluffy bunnies?"

Laurence sighed. "They're for your children."

Christopher smiled like a sunrise. "They've been asking all morning if you'd be coming as usual."

"Well, of course we have," Laurence said.

Series: Doctor Who / Yami no Matsuei
Requested Topic: Who and Yami no Matsuei. Ten, Seven, or Five would be lovely, but if another Doctor works better, feel free to choose another.

"Doctor," Rose said patiently, "there is a giant flying chicken outside the door."

"Giant?" the Doctor asked. "How giant is giant? Because I've seen some pretty giant chickens in my time. Is it giant enough to crush Big Ben under a single claw? Or more house-sized?"

"Okay, it's not very giant giant, it's more medium giant. Big for a chicken. And it says it wants to talk to you."

"Oh?" the Doctor said warily.

"About a library book from the Shokan Division Library that's five centuries overdue --"

"Oh dear," the Doctor said. "Just sat on the dematerialisation lever. Whoops."
