Astonishingly enough, all went according to plan. Taxi didn't recognise destination name offhand, but I'd thought ahead and copied out the address, and he used the GPS device in the front of the cab (taxis really have advanced, haven't they?) to get there, and dropped me off.
Package was quickly obtained. Senior-looking guy who handed it over apologised for the lack of notification. Wow. I only wish that I believed this will make a difference in the future.
Began following the main road back, and within five minutes came across a bus stop which dropped me about ten-fifteen minutes walk from my home.
Cost of whole expedition: less than if I'd paid to have it redelivered on a Saturday. (Price-gouging pissant bloodthirsty etc.) Will be even less next time if I get the bus each way. Excellent. I am feeling unduly proud and accomplished.
On a side note, was assembling a list of codes at work for operations/diagnoses considered "sensitive data". I now know what the "hamster egg penetration test" is. The things one finds out.

Writing isn't generally a lucrative source of income; only a few, exceptional writers reach the income levels associated with the best-sellers. Rather, most of us write because we can make a modest living, or even supplement our day jobs, doing something about which we feel passionately. Even at the worst of times, when nothing goes right, when the prose is clumsy and the ideas feel stale, at least we're doing something that we genuinely love. There's no other reason to work this hard, except that love. -- Melissa Scott
