the spice of life
Apr. 21st, 2011 01:43 amI would have got more done this evening if I had not been wanting to finish a tiny felt orang-outang for a friend before Easter, which means giving it to her tomorrow. (Well, I claim it's an orang-outang. I used a monkey pattern and didn't put a tail on it. Quibbles, quibbles.)
But. Anyhow. Tomorrow is work, but then it's a four-day weekend. Then a three-day week. Then a four-day weekend. It will be good.
Once tomorrow's done, that is.
A particular daydream had me reading up (thank you, wikipedia) on spices and the spice trade. Also vanilla, coffee, cocoa, ginger, cloves, mace, nutmeg, and other interesting things. Why can't someone create an online "Spiceville" game? I'd play that.
(It also got me wondering exactly where certain AD&D world settings get sugar from, but that's another problem.)

Who are the Masters of the Bazaar?
The Masters of the Bazaar - Mr Wines, Mr Spices, Mr Veils and the rest - speak in high-pitched whispers, and under their concealing cloaks they seem winged or hunchbacked. Fallen angels, stunted pterodactyls, mobile colonies of fungus? They dismiss all personal questions with an airy wave of their gloved hands.
