good things, bad things
Jun. 11th, 2011 02:53 amWife of coworker whom I was doing Dresden Plate quilt for (how's that for multi-nested) has had daughter!
(Since coworker is now going to be off work for the next two weeks, quite reasonably, this gives me two weeks to finish the quilt. It would have been nice to have had it ready beforehand, but ah well.)
Other than that, I am very grateful that it's the weekend.
I have the newest volume (in French: volume 10, Bain de Sang) of Requiem Vampire Knight. It continues to be fun, if not particularly deep, and the art continues to be so very pretty.
I also picked up the new Simon Green in his Drood series. I really should have remembered better than to do that. He continues to be good at coining names for people and things, and writing a paragraph or so of entertaining description about them, but the -- let's say protagonists rather than heroes -- in this one are (a) stupid (their MO is (a) walk into trouble/do something stupid while not wearing kewl magical armour, (b) remember they have kewl magical armour, (c) raise armour, (d) smash everything and bully people) and (b) such hypocrites that it becomes positively toxic to read, if only because I am suffering from backed-up bile and think that their entire family could do with being knocked on the head. Oh well. Perhaps I will remember by the time the next book comes out.
(Please don't say "I told you so" if I don't.)
Other tidbits from work today: there is actually something called "exploding head syndrome". It is not particularly fun.

Who is Mr Eaten?
A good question. Not a wise one.
