The more-knowledgeable-than-I acquaintance took a look at things, and diagnosed that the screen had to be plugged into a different orifice, and that I needed a particular adaptor to do so. Which he supplied.
Much updating and backup-uploading later, I now have a new and pretty desktop. I also had to reinstall several packages, including games, which resulted in playing the games . . . which resulted in nothing else getting done tonight. Ah well. Sometimes life is like that. (Attempts insouciance.)

What is red honey?
Something to do with prisoner's honey? Whatever it is, it's forbidden to buy or sell it in a city where very little is outright forbidden. Even the sale of souls is licensed.
