an excellent day
Jul. 24th, 2011 01:43 amGot up on time and successfully navigated to location of fete.
It was a lot of fun. It was windy and a bit cloudy, but at least it wasn't raining (thank heavens), and everyone was very pleasant. Also, us lot helping man stalls and so on got free coffee.
Sold 15 pairs of earrings (at £2.50 a pair) and two bracelets. Feel extremely accomplished.
The fete itself technically finished at 3pm, and I was back in the centre of town by 3.45pm or so and able to do the usual shopping. Bought myself a length of on-sale fabric at the haberdashers as a treat, which will make a nice backing for a quilt somewhere. (It's this green/brown/purple flowery background with trees and birds and deer and winged bulls, and while it is probably totally inaccurate to do so, it makes me think of something vaguely Babylonian.)
At about quarter to six, when finishing off the grocery shop, my body began to present the bill. I am quite good at putting off a need for sustained rest for a while, but when it hits, it really hits. I made it home and lay down on my bed, and didn't get up again till around 10pm, which made for a rather late supper. And I'm still tired. Ah well. Sunday tomorrow.
In summary: earring sales went well, feel totally justified for hard work of previous week's evenings (I may have overdone it, but then I always do overdo it when I get enthusiastic, so nothing new there), and looking forward to now making something other than earrings for a while. And doing some writing.

Who is Mr Veils?
Mr Veils deals with clothing and fabric, and takes a close interest in the silk-weavers of Spite. But not in any of the more dubious activities in the district of Spite! The mere suggestion is slander!
