While idly reading horror movie synopses on wikipedia (as one does), I was struck by the idea of a fae character who is constantly trying to write a New and Epic work of fiction.

It will involve a deserted camp, a group of holidaymakers, and a psycho with various weapons of increased gore-potential.

. . . what do you mean, it's not an epic work of fiction for the ages?

(I can't see Silver doing it. He's far too pseudo-Victorian period. His Great Work For The Ages would involve a corrupt debauched aristocrat and the hapless governess who is drawn into his depraved toils. It'd have to be a fae character from a more pseudo-modern setting . . .)

In other news, at least it wasn't raining so much today.

1. Go to page 77 (or 7th) of your current ms
2. Go to line 7
3. Copy down the next 7 lines – sentences or paragraphs – and post them as they’re written. No cheating.

All right. Invisible Library, page 77.

"Indeed I am," Vale said.

"Are they connected to the Fair Folk?" she probed.

Vale laughed, a dry surprised bark of a laugh. "My dear Miss Winter! Show me a society that isn't connected to the Fair Folk. I suppose you could say no more than most of them."

"And to Liechtenstein?" she continued.

"Ah. Now here we come to the nub of the problem." Vale frowned. "I should probably have offered you tea. I do apologise. I always forget that sort of thing. But in any case, from what I've heard, those Fair Folk in Liechtenstein are very definitely not affiliated with -- well, let us call them The Society. So the Ambassador's arrival under these circumstances is notable for its timing."

"You think he caused the explosion?" Kai asked.

"Possible." Vale waved a hand. "Possible. Certainly it is worthy of further investigation. And now, Miss Winter, Mr Strongrock, since I have done my part and told you why I am involved in all of this, I ask you to do the same." He leaned forward in his chair, dark eyes glittering. "If we are to progress, then there must be some trust on both sides."
