I've just been discovering Lindsey Stirling's violin music. Apparently (well, according to iTunes) it's "hip-hop/rap". I don't know about that. But it is very pretty. (I particularly like Shadows.)
Birthday present safely dispatched for my father. Must remember to actually phone or text on his birthday.
No more beeping from my smoke detector (for the moment, at least). The world is a much, much better place.
I really need to find a translation of The Threepenny Opera, if only so that I can find the bit where Macheath declares his intention to open a bank and legally extract money from the rest of the world, since it's much more profitable than outright theft. Also, in a somewhat linked line of thought, I am very grateful that I do not have any money in accounts with the Royal Bank of Scotland or NatWest.

I must confess the activities of the UK governments for the past couple of years have been watched with frank admiration and amazement by Lord Vetinari. Outright theft as a policy had never occurred to him.
