perhaps it's just the NHS
May. 18th, 2011 02:53 amFinally got hold of some nice triangular jump rings! Extremely pleased.
(This does make sense. Really.)
Meeting at work today on one of the ongoing work packages. (There was a time when I didn't use the phrase "work package" so easily. Oh well.) Touch wood, it's going quite well and on schedule. We should be able to get it through, barring any unexpected complications.
Why am I so cautious in my speech? It's because unexpected complications keep on happening, and part of me insists that saying "everything's fine" or "no problems" is like standing on top of the Titanic and demanding the universe throw icebergs at me.
I have a pessimistic side.

Who is the Duchess?
A lady of style, grace and refinement, whose salons may be the best-attended in Fallen London. Just don't ask about her peculiar diet. Or her name. Or her association with the city's cats. Or her past. Actually, best not to say anything, just nod and drink her lovely tea. It is very lovely tea.

I'm picturing this being a reference to an unspecified video game in which getting the triangular rings lets you jump twice as far as the regular jump rings do.

Date: 2011-05-18 11:58 am (UTC)It's actually to do with jewelry making - "jump rings" are small rings that you can open and close, which you usually use to join bits of jewelry together (such as the parts of an earring) or to attach a bead, or other things. They're usually round, and come in different sizes, but you can get other shapes as well. I wanted to get hold of some triangular ones because they're particularly useful when you're attaching drop-shaped beads.
