The earring-making continues. Also got to watch chunks of the first episode of Sherlock again (great fun), an episode of Criminal Minds (tear-jerking), and the tail-end and beginning of a couple of utterly disposable films on the "SyFy" channel. (Then again, when does the SyFy channel ever have any other sort of film?)

Though when I say "watch", it was more "listen to in the background while I focus on turning loops and on trying to match a few nuggets or daggers. The good thing about buying a string of small polished chunky (nugget) or thin (dagger) pieces of semiprecious stones is that they cost a lot, lot, lot less than properly cut stones (smooth or faceted - faceted is even worse). But the problem is that when you want to make a pair of earrings which actually look relatively similar, or are at least vaguely the same length, is that you end up sorting through the whole pile, trying to find a somewhat-matching pair.

Oh well. They are pretty. And as I said, it's cheaper than buying properly cut aquamarines, garnets, amethysts, tourmalines, citrines, lapis lazuli, garnets, zoicite (yes, I do have some of that and it's quite pretty) and so on . . .

I have also, on another note, come to the conclusion that the reason for all Bleach filler episodes is that Yamamoto got fed up of Ichigo and friends running around the place, and got Urahara to build a holodeck and shut them inside it. They're happily having adventures in there saving the world from multiple unknown factions of hitherto undiscovered enemies, having to fight evil duplicate Captains, running into everyone's zanpakutou suddenly taking human form, and so on, while outside Yamamoto can sip tea and do some serious wartime planning about the current situation, without having to worry about the idiot kids doing something stupid. Makes perfect sense.

Is it true what they say about Polythreme?

Polythreme is a city where some principle in the water or earth - they say - makes everything live. This makes it a hellish place. Candles scream as they burn. Furniture is enslaved wood. Buildings are hollow shells of misery. The Clay Men are sold by Polythreme - or perhaps they escape.
