Well, yes. I could manage the trip to Germany at the end of March, and see both Tanz der Vampire and Dracula. It's feasible. It could be done.

But I'm coming to the conclusion that I'm not going to do it.

It would be expensive. It would involve spending most of my time in towns which are pleasant/interesting enough (Stuttgart and Nordhausen). It would involve a couple of five-hour train journeys across Germany to get from one to another, then back again. It would involve a lot of pre-booking (flights, trains, hotels, theatre tickets). And (which is possibly the deciding factor) both those musicals seem to be regular shows in Germany, turning up every year or two, so I'm not missing anything permanent by choosing not to see them this year.

Compare and contrast with getting a more regular city-break holiday to somewhere like Budapest, or Vienna, or St Petersburg, where I would be in the same area throughout, and which will definitely be less expensive... and I think the more standard holiday is winning. Haven't yet decided which city, but I think it's winning.

But it is in a way encouraging to know that I could have managed to do the two-musical German trip if I'd really wanted to.
