Have been feeling a bit biliously off-colour all day. Admittedly not off-colour enough to stop me doing my usual Saturday afternoon shop, the grocery shopping, watching Doctor Who, etcetera, but enough to stay on fairly bland food and spend the odd moment here and there wishing that I did not feel off-colour. I'm sure people know the shade I mean.

And in connection with Doctor Who . . . Yes, the Ponds have now left the Doctor, but they are together, they lived to their old age (also together, since IIRC the dates on the tombstone were not far apart), and we have no reason not to assume that they had a reasonably happy life. Which is more than can be said for a lot of companions who left the Doctor, where we have no assurances that they had happy lives, or even long ones. Also, if they arrived back in America in 1938, then they were conveniently in the past, in a reasonably safe location for the time, with plenty of useful knowledge about the future. I can imagine them doing quite well for themselves. Sad, but hardly heartbreaking tragedy. I'd feel sorrier for Rory's father and Amy's parents (assuming they're still alive at the point when the episode took place), suddenly losing their children and never seeing them again.

Curiously she pulled one of the quilts away from the wall. Behind it there were shelves of books, their spines in a mixture of English, Swedish, and German, with titles such as Little Sod House on the Prairie, Vigilante Stories of New Gothenburg, and Runestones of North America. She had to forcibly remind herself that there wasn’t time to sit down and read, much as she would like to, and with an audible sigh she trudged out into the corridor.

I am sympathetic to your protagonist's problem,.

And wishes of good health.
