time to get out the caper movies

Currently reading interesting books about Venice and wishing that I could afford to visit.

Common sense says that a dragon prisoner should probably be put in the high-up "plombi" lead-lined cells in the upper floor of the Palazzo Ducale. While the cellar prisons might have thicker walls, they would also be next to the canals, which would be a bad place to imprison someone who might have authority over water.

(ponders escape plans) Still, if Casanova managed to escape from the Plombi, it can't be that hard...

I don't suppose Kai has any of the more outre shape-shifting abilities that his kind displays in Journey to the West?

And must one keep him even from water pipes?

The outre shapeshifting abilities are very tempting, but I'm worried that they might make him overpowered in context. That's definitely a thought, though.

Water pipes, hm. Not sure.

I think at the moment they have him in some sort of chains (or drugged?) which stop him doing anything outside the limits of a normal human. Of course, getting said chains off him will be one of the first bits of the escape, but Irene (and Vale) can't count on him being able to use any innate powers as an essential part of the escape.

All of Venice seems a poor choice to imprison someone who has authority over water. Though I suppose it depends on time period -- it didn't use to lie as low as it does now.

A good point. Venice in general might not have been the best place for the kidnapper to take him. I should probably address that. Thank you. ;)

Well, but it took Casanova a lot of work.

And at least one of his escape attempts was foiled because his jailer liked him and arranged for a better cell - higher up, nicer fittings, no escape tunnel...
