PDR at work tomorrow.

I don't think that I have anything to specifically reproach myself over ("And what do you think you could have done better this year?" "Do you think that there were any particular areas where you fell down this year?") but I will still be very glad when it is over. I hate PDRs.

Performance Development Review. Compare work for this year with last year's performance objectives, development objectives, areas where I feel I did well, areas where I feel I did badly, etc.

I'm not totally against the concept, but it's still something that fills my stomach with a cold creeping gruel of dread.

Well said, well said. Mind, you have your boss's assurance that they know you're working well, whatever the rest of the team may be up to.

This is true. And the PDR is just over, and it was generally good, and my areas of self-accusation agreed with the boss's comments of "could perhaps do better", so that's good. It always helps if you point the finger at yourself first and vow amendment/improval.

There's just that part of me which always flashes back (possibly unjustly) to my school report, and standing there with my hands squeezing each other behind my back while a housemistress/teacher/parent enquires gently about the "could do better" comment, or the "could put more effort in".
