and that was Tuesday
Sep. 10th, 2003 01:14 amShould one panic slightly when one's office-mate coughs regularly in an ominous manner? She says she's healthy. She'd better not be infectious.
Am reading some just-arrived Minami Megumu. All right, let's be honest. Am looking at the pretty pictures and identifying the odd character and even the occasional word. It's still educational.

This is bad. It made me snicker.
Lay of Ancient Rome
Oh, the Roman was a rogue,
He erat was, you bettum;
He ran his automobilis
And smoked his cigarettum;
He wore a diamond studibus
And elegant cravattum,
A maxima cum laude shirt,
And a stylish hattum!
He loved the luscious hic-haec-hoc,
And bet on games and equi;
At times he won, at others, though,
He got it in the necqui;
He winked (quo usque tandem?)
At puellas on the Forum,
And sometimes even made
Those goo-goo oculorum!
He frequently was seen
At combats gladiatorial,
And ate enough to feed
Ten boarders at Memorial;
He often went on sprees
And said, on starting homus,
"Hic labor --- opus est,
Oh, where's my hic--hic--domus?"
Although he lived in Rome --
Of all the arts the middle --
He was (excuse the phrase)
A horrid individ'l;
Ah! what a diff'rent thing
Was the homo (dative, hominy)
Of far-away B.C.
From us of Anno Domini.

Date: 2003-09-10 01:32 am (UTC)White Rose, El Diablo, Tarantula (if I'm reading the name correctly), and a couple of others whose kanji I'm having problems with. As you say in the reviews, very pretty stuff. ;)

Date: 2003-09-10 07:06 am (UTC)I really need to internalise this attitude that nothing at all is sacred. It'd be so useful.

Date: 2003-09-10 10:29 am (UTC)I mean, I'm taking Latin and I'm doing my Latin memorization every day and now it's making my head all poundy!
I pout. Although it is cute.
