chop wood, carry water
Nov. 15th, 2014 03:18 amThe rain had arrived today. This would have been less annoying if I'd realised that the "Dark Arches" under-the-bridges area which can be used as a side-route to work had been blocked off for some rebuilding, as it meant that I did a cunning swerve in that direction in order to avoid some of the worst of the wind, and then had to swerve back when it turned out to be impassable.
All right, not really a serious issue, but a five-minutes-early-morning-annoyance. Easily settled by applying hot coffee and nibbles once I got to work. Which reminds me, the Christmas nibbles season will soon be starting. That is, we will shortly be in the period when people are bringing in cakes or mince pies or sweets every few days. Not good for any ambitions of weight loss.
... I think I'm putting off any ambitions of weight loss till after Christmas.
Drawing up shopping list for tomorrow. Washing-up liquid, frozen chips, fruit, broccoli, mushrooms, rice... yes, definitely back from carefree holiday and back in the world of "make sure things are organised and done or they won't get organised or done". Ah well.
---
And that's when I came up with a cunning plan - one of my better ones, if I do say so myself.
"Got go go, Abdul," I said. "I've just had a bright idea."
Just before I hung up I think he might have said 'god be merciful', but I couldn't be sure.
