Coughing a bit less today, thank goodness. Would probably be coughing even less than that if I hadn't been scrubbing out the bathroom, but I couldn't really leave it any longer. And the bathroom is now sparkling clean.

Need to go to the local library (not, alas, The Library) in the next few days to check out some subjects, including but not limited to Prohibition in America. (Somehow I suspect my reading of Damon Runyon isn't quite sufficient.)

There's a fantastic Ken Burns documentary about Prohibition, if you're so inclined. You won't get the full depth you'd get out of a stack of books, but it makes a nice primer.

(Among other things, he plays up the gender angle of Prohibition's causes.)
