keeping busy
Jan. 7th, 2004 02:05 amAll right. Calmer today. Work was satisfactorily demanding, and took my attention as it should do. Also managed about a thousand words of writing this evening (on work project, so that's necessary) and I can feel better about that.
I've been sharing an office with a particular coworker for 2 or 3 months now, and it's working out very well indeed. We share a number of tastes, and she's borrowed from my manga and graphic novels before now, though her tastes are more to the Ranma end of the scale than the darker stuff. (She likes Alan Moore, though. Interesting.) We can discuss politics, religion, and conspiracy theory. I showed her Phil Master's document on "how to write conspiracy theory examples for your game" and she was snickering as we read through it.
Incidentally, April, I've put those two shitakiji (or is it shitajiki?) up on the wall in the office. They look splendid. More will doubtless follow eventually. Much easier on the eye than a plain, flaking white wall.

The Dalliance of the Eagles
Skirting the river road, (my forenoon walk, my rest,)
Skyward in air a sudden muffled sound, the dalliance of the eagles,
The rushing amorous contact high in space together,
The clinching interlocking claws, a living, fierce, gyrating wheel,
Four beating wings, two beaks, a swirling mass tight grappling,
In tumbling turning clustering loops, straight downward falling
Till o'er the river pois'd, the twain yet one, a moment's lull,
A motionless still balance in the air, then parting, talons loosing,
Upward again on slow-firm pinions slanting, their separate diverse flight,
She hers, he his, pursuing.
