fairy tales
Jan. 31st, 2004 12:42 amToday I grated fresh ginger, rather than rethawed frozen ginger, and there was a perceptible difference in scent and liquidity. (Though not, alas, in the condition of my hands afterwards.)
I have been very lazy the last few evenings. I really need to get back to doing things.
And no, nothing worth complaining about today, nothing worth exulting about today; just work done, hard work done, supper cooked, a scene run, a combat played out, and the pleasure of the company of friends.
(And my father needs to learn the difference between "12 oz pork" and "6-9 oz pork" when it comes to shopping for my recipes. Just because we can eat 12 oz does not mean that we should. Nice as it was.)
---
Fairy-tales do not give a child his first idea of bogy. What fairy-tales give the child is his first clear idea of the possible defeat of bogy. The baby has known the dragon intimately ever since he had an imagination. What the fairy-tale provides for him is a St. George to kill the dragon.
