pitch, fingers
May. 6th, 2004 02:10 amRecipe for apparent self-control; recite five times before posting anything that she who responds on a public forum to someone who is not only snide, but incompetently snide (and can't even edit his own posts) will not get herself anywhere useful. However delightful it might be to be competently snide in response.
Whining behind the cut.
I could mutter something about finding it mildly amusing that it took a team of eleven male writers to attempt to produce a rpg sourcebook about shoujo, but that'd rather be shooting myself in the foot when it came to me producing (if I do) anything about shounen.
Je m'en fous. I want to let loose (rather than declaiming on a private lj to people you know are your friends, mm?) (shut up, you) but equally I don't want to get into a bitching match on a public forum with the author of someone else who published something in the same line and apparently feels that the two have to be compared, and can't resist the opportunity to puff his own in every posting. I don't feel like permanently tarring myself in the process, or engaging in that level of petty boasting -- yes, I think that is the word for it -- which honestly seems to me to be just bad manners and bad form. Mentioning in a general discussion that a game which you worked on has good points is one thing. Starting a thread to compare it with another game and then citing all the cool things about your own is just showing yourself up.
Still, I finished something today which does not displease me too much, so that's good.
(On a sidenote, latest packet of French manga included vol 1 of Kizuna and Seimaden, among others. (Hm, they've translated the protagonist as "Raulés". Not sure whether I like that or not.)

I, uh, don't read RPG boards anymore for blood pressure reasons.

Date: 2004-05-06 03:57 am (UTC)Sounds like a winner. But bear in mind that if it's devoted to the sparkly, magical, bishoujo, wand-waving, transforming, fuku-wearing type of shoujo, they probably do have the advantage. *cough*

Yes, but but but! That's your other option: "Go, my hapless LJ minions! Charbroil that person's foolish ass for me so that I may rest unsullied above the fray." No knowledge of the subject is required for anyone, fun melee action for all. Vachement spiffy.

Date: 2004-05-06 06:19 am (UTC)Its worth noting that the only other team member who agreed with me was the sole female.
So, HSF became my Labour of Hate. And I feel wonderfully satisfied, since our pre-order sales dwarf his first-three-month sales.
Thus, let him blow. He just buys us more sales.

Date: 2004-05-06 10:13 am (UTC)Assuming we can get the right words in the right ears at the right rhythm, we can keep sales going pretty steady. Just need to get the anime fan contingent, specifically the online shoujo communities, into it as a reference text.
