Miss Cabanner (I suspect this should be Cabana) is definitely one of those villains (in the Et Cetera manga) who one loves to hate. Competent, intelligent, and extremely vengeful; you know a female villain's risen to high status when not a single member of the good guys considers options other than stopping her for good or running away very fast indeed.

Though I must check and see whether one of the phrases she uses is general French idiom, or happy transliteration. "J'ai d'autres chats a fouetter pour l'instant," would seem to generally translate as "I've got other fish to fry for the moment," but the literal translation of, "I've got other cats to whip..." seems much more appropriate.

Whipping cats is a genuine idiom, only now I'm wondering why.

I'm tempted to do a google search on "French whipping cats" but am afraid of what I'd find. Hm. I'll try my father this evening. It's probably classic idiom rather than modern, after all . . .
