No, it's not a particularly good film, and yes, it does look somewhat dated, but given that it was on, it seemed a crying shame not to at least inspect it for a few minutes.
Lots and lots of floating gauze. Strange colours. Angles that give an impression of wrongness. The feeling that if you could undesrstand it all, then something would be badly wrong.
Now I just need to be able to write it. :)
Oh. Oh, interesting. It pays to research one's sources. Looking Suspiria up on Google sends me to http://www.imagesjournal.com/issue05/infocus/suspiria.htm , which gives me a reference for the Mother of Tears in Rome, Mater Lachrymarum. So that's where Kim Newman got her from, for his Judgement of Tears third Anno Dracula novel. Excellent.
