balancing cookery
Jul. 23rd, 2004 02:00 amOkay. That went well.
Major thing today was friends coming round this evening to have supper and watch anime. (Well, and the usual other stuff.) Supper went off surprisingly smoothly. Possibly because I left them in front of the Platinum Melon arc from GetBackers while I did all the cooking solo in the kitchen, thus avoiding having help under my feet.
(My mother's just the same. She waves her hands and mutters, "Seaweed, seaweed...")
Supper itself worked okay, which was a great relief, as one of my friends is (a) Muslim (so no teriyaki, as teriyaki sauce includes alcohol) and (b) mostly-vegetarian (the sort that's permitted eggs and fishes). So I cooked up this rather nice chicken tama rice from my Wagamama cookbook, removing the two tablespoonfuls of wine from the recipe, and did a couple of boiled eggs on the side for said friend, as the chicken itself could be served separately for me and the other friend. Oof. Anyhow, worked.
Also remembered to put video on for Tour de France in time. Phew.
Oh -- we watched some Ranma, some GetBackers, and some of the Read Or Die tv series. A mixed bag.
---
You play an incandescent demigod busting out cosmic kung-fu on soul-sucking elves from beyond the edge of a flat world while the vengeful ghosts of your predecessors gnaw at the underpinnings of reality, an empire of elementally-empowered supersoldiers are gunning for your hide while backstabbing each other, and critters that make C'thulhu look like Hello Kitty try to break back into the world so they can torture it. —Eric Brennan on Exalted
