Jun. 13th, 2005 01:46 amSpent a fair amount of the day giving the apartment a much-needed clean. A depressing job, but necessary. When I looked out of the window and saw it raining, I felt extremely smug that I'd decided to shop tomorrow or Tuesday and clean today, rather than the other way round.
Am also feeling pleased because on Friday I phoned up the people I'm renting from in order to discuss an extension of contract (the original contract was just 6 months) and they were happy to arrange another year, with break-off-at-six-months option if necessary, for the meantime. So no problems there.
Lent Curse of Chalion to a coworker last week. I hope she's started it -- I'm interested to know what she'll think of it.
---
And now, some more Doctor Who quotes (from various episodes of the new series):
Jabe: This facility is purely automatic. It's the height of the upper class. Nothing can go wrong.
The Doctor: Unsinkable?
Jabe: If you like. The nautical metaphor is appropriate.
The Doctor: You're telling me. I was on another ship once. They said that was unsinkable. I ended up clinging to an iceberg. It wasn't half cold.
The Doctor: Well. Now. Yes, you see the thing is if I were you, if I was going to execute someone by backing them against the wall, between you and me, little word of advice: don't stand them against a lift.
Margaret: This is persecution. Why can't you leave me alone, what did I ever do to you?
The Doctor: You tried to kill me and destroy this entire planet.
Margaret: Apart from that.
