"And what's more," Hagrid said loudly, "all that Muggle talk about virgins is a load of codswallop, right? Don't believe a word of it. Just because a unicorn'll come to you don't mean that you're a virgin. Unless you want to be. So get your sugar lumps and let's not hear any more of that rubbish."

"Potter is a virgin, Potter is a virgin," Malfoy whispered.

Hermione spun to face him, wand drawn. "Accio honey!"

"Oh, fine," Malfoy said, looking down his nose. "So the Mudblood's ruined my trousers. So what?"

"Don't ask me. Ask those unicorns coming this way."

irritating bits

Note to self: sewing up knitted pieces is very irritating.

(Especially when one side turns out to be a tiny bit smaller than the other. Drat. Oh well.)

Flat is cleaner, and I am wishing I did not have to go to work tomorrow. Yes, yes, you Americans have a holiday. I am most pleased for you.

here we go again

They had a sale at the local yarn shop.

I got a load of Patons Art yarn (can be seen here) in shades of Dragonfly, Ginger, and Licorice.

It was a pound (that's two dollars) a ball. It's normally three pounds fifty.

I should be ashamed, but I look down at the yarn and purr.

The Ginger is particularly nice, and will make a lovely vest top.

"Simply because a soul is young and modern," Ukitake told the new recruits, "does not mean that they are unworthy of your attention. We should not lose touch with modern technology and inventions. The years have brought many advantages to the world of the living. Data storage. Medicine. Bicycles. Lawn tennis. Universal education." He ran out of inspiration, and turned to Kyouraku with a hopeful glance.

"Short skirts," Kyouraku said cheerfully. "Cocktails. Chocolate. Waterbeds. Horse racing. Tango and lambada."

The applause was deafening.

Later on, Ukitake muttered that he didn't blame Kyouraku, he blamed himself for not having known better.
