“They were already at cross purposes,” Hu said. “When my lord saw through the eyes of his pets that the prince had arrived and taken you under his protection, he spoke quite strongly about how it was all the fault of the lady Jin Zhi interfering, and she commented on how his carelessness and laxity had caused the current situation, and...” He shrugged.
“I do remember hearing some gossip about a past liaison between Qing Song and Jin Zhi,” Kai commented, staring out of the window casually.
“I couldn’t possibly comment,” Hu said primly. “Except that if such a thing had happened, it did not end well.”
Irene filed that one under blatantly obvious.
