crossovers
Aug. 6th, 2004 01:07 amSad, looking at Unknown Armies sourcebooks, to think that there may not be any more of it. It was -- is -- a very good system indeed.
And now my mind's trying to cross it over with GetBackers again, just to model some of the characters, particularly the magic systems and the avatar paths. Alas, those of my friends who know Unknown Armies don't know GetBackers, and vice versa. Ah well. I will have to work on this.

You don't have to believe in Hell. All you need is to hear someone who really does, who believes in it this minute, today, the way people believed in 1685 -- all you have to do is see his face, hear his voice when he says the word . . . and then you know that anyone who can imagine Hell has the power to make it real for other people. I don't mean I understood any of that right then -- just barely do now -- but at that instant I understood Judge Jeffreys, and why I ought to be even more frightened of him, dead or alive, than I'd known to be. There's a lot to be said for never quite grasping the situation.

Date: 2004-08-06 12:43 am (UTC)I like linking it to GetBackers because a number of the Weird Things Going On or the Weird Character Powers/Backgrounds could be modelled by using Unknown Armies magic or avatar concepts. But it's a cool game in any case.

What is GetBackers?
And lastly...I've always thought about starting up a UA game...but I could never truly figure out how to structure a campaign. Any advice?

Date: 2004-08-06 08:00 am (UTC)b) GetBackers is a manga/anime series. (25 books of the manga released and still going strong, 49 episodes of anime based on it.) Up to book 4 has been translated into English so far (book 6 is about to be released in French) though there have been some debates about the quality of the translation. It's fun. Young people, occasional weird powers, modern Tokyo, adventure and conspiracy and crime and car chases and past angst and so on.
c) Um, no. Sorry.
