French proving useful
Dec. 3rd, 2004 12:48 amThe high point of the day was having a coworker come round looking for anyone who knew some French and could help her with a French procedure manual for emergency hospital admissions. Managed to be of assistance; fortunately, the professional words that I didn't know were reasonably similar to English terms in most cases. Thank heavens for medical terminology. Very rewarding.
Weather still cold. Skies still clear.
Salmon teriyaki for supper tomorrow, and London and meeting up with Jo at Dragonmeet on Saturday. Will be good.
Note to self; pay attention to fact that railway stations have been trumpeting "disruptions at weekend, bus service between Southampton and Winchester" for the last few days, and actually look at bus timetables before turning up and expecting convenient train.

The Young Fools
High-heels struggling with a full-length dress
So that, between the wind and the terrain,
At times a glimmering ankle would be seen,
And gone too soon. We liked that foolishness.
Sometimes a jealous insect's sting
Bothered the necks of beauties beneath the branches.
White napes revealed in sudden flashes
Were a feast for young eyes wild gazing.
Evening fell, ambiguous autumn evening,
The women who hung dreaming on our arms
Whispered, in low voices, words that had such charms
That our souls were left quivering and singing.
