Washing machine now sorted out, so I needn't mention it in this journal any more -- except for the inevitable point in the next few days where I moan about the developing pile of ironing.

Took the day off work, which was probably a good idea in terms of resting and recovering from the convention.

Got CDs from French amazon -- two Mylene Farmer, two musicals (Tristan et Isolde, and Notre-Dame de Paris to replace my current version which appears to have got scratched). Haven't listened to them yet, though, as _also_ today got CDs from ebay order -- 3 Saiyuki, 1 Utena. As the music note below notes, I'm currently listening to the Saiyuki Requiem soundtrack. Mmm.

I shouldn't start new fics when I haven't finished the old ones yet. Does this ever stop people? No.

Let's see, I believe I promised a quote from the Book of Ebon Bindings.

---

Then shall the invocation to the Barrier Gods be made. This is done in a place apart from the first diagramme, preferably to the west. It consists of a censing, a litany, and six acts, according to the Practices of Kyunumur of Ti-Sharai [possibly modern Hrais in Livyanu]. The evocator must prepare an incense of thre eparts of Vres-wood, to one part of Osrudha [the dried and pulverised leaves of a flowering plant common in southern Mu'ugalavya and northern Livyanu], one part of charcoal made from the bark of the Tiu-tree, and two parts of Attar of Dene [probably modern Chuizhe, an aromatic gum much favoured by incantationists]. A circle shall be drawn upon the earth with a reed dipped in a mixture of water and urine, and the sorcerer shall stand inside of this and burn the incense at the four cardinal points. As he does so, he shall recite the following litany and at the same time perform the six acts of fealty described below:

"You who bind, standing upon the path!" (Bow once to each of the cardinal points)
"You who guard the roads and the ways and the towers of all the Planes!" (Kneel facing to the north and touch the earth with the left hand)
"The Gates of Iron Fangs are opened; the Warders turn aside!" (Without rising, turn to the east and touch the earth with the left hand)
"The coming forth is in your power; the returning is yours!" (Without rising, turn to the west and touch the earth with the right hand)
"The opening of each Pylon shall be made, and he who dwells within shall come out unto me!" (Turning without rising, face to the south and touch the earth with both hands)
"I know your Names and your Stations, and by these do I demand a summoning!" (Without rising, one must prostrate oneself upon the earth facing to the north, and the arms and legs are to be extended diagonally in the form of a cross)

Then there will appear a black opening in the air to the north of the place of summoning; this will be of the shape of a tall, narrow, vertical diamond many cubits in height. The evocator shall now rise and face this, and he shall call out the Six Secret Names of the Beast Without a Tail. These are: Onnu; Sekketl; U'unvidle; Dlakonainu; Khatichasa; Ariyorn.
