On the wild expenses side, in addition to far too many books, bought 2 haori. Both black silk with embroidery (one swan, one peacock). Utterly gorgeous. The peacock I'm keeping for myself, the swan's for my mother for her birthday (and she'd better like it).
On the ridiculous side; on Wednesday I was stung on the sole of the foot by a wasp. Who was in my sock. Which I bought across from England rolled into another sock.
The wasp has been tossed outside and now haunts California. If a plague of English killer wasps arises, you'll know who to blame.
My foot feels pretty much okay now. However, when it comes to embarrassment, this feels on a par with the beads incident. Bringing across a wasp in your sock which you manage to waken from a convenient five days hibernation by sticking your foot into its refuge?
Way too exotic a premise for any sort of story.
