Rain has struck in cloudbursts throughout the day, and, on consideration, it was a pity that my father was wearing soft leather shoes when we went to the cinema, as a puddle a couple of inches deep surrounded our car (and others) for meters in either direction when we came out afterwards. The rest of us tried not to laugh, but didn't succeed very well.

Okay, so it was funny.

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets was fun. Not the greatest film ever, but amusing, and it went fast, and it was just, well, fun. Alan Rickman deserved more screen time (as ever) and the duelling scene was a delight to watch. Kenneth Branagh carried off his part nicely. I enjoyed watching, but I think that I'll enjoy The Two Towers a lot more.

Oh, there's a neat little endpiece after the extremely long credits, should anyone out there be planning to see it in the near future.

And I want a wand-hidden-in-cane like Lucius Malfoy.

Work was busy and boring. My imagination ran wild in the spare bits of my mind -- that is, any parts not currently occupied with wading through a pile of General Medicine admissions and coding on yet another collapse or chest pain or similar. Thoughts of the weekend sustained me. (Presses hand to brow.)

My Spirited Away DVD arrived. Now I just need to find a good moment to get my parents to watch it, as I know that they'd love it. They'd enjoy the third Utena DVD too, but that can wait.

Time to relax and prepare to spend too much money tomorrow -- my new contact lenses and glasses should be ready. I need to be ready to hand over the cheque without bursting into tears, or whimpering and clutching my purse, or screaming and letting loose with a machine pistol. Really, the prices are iniquitous. On the other hand, I like being able to see.

"You'd do it, wouldn't you?"
"With infinite regret but negligible hesitation, yes."

[livejournal.com profile] malkin and I devoured the four Utena eps this evening (damn them for splitting the Black Rose arc across *two* discs). Yummier than I remember (or perhaps it's just that, having watched eps 20-39 last month, it all makes a bit more sense now). And, well, I still can't hear Koyasu say "Itadakimasu!" without much giggling ensuing. ^_^
