Apparently chocolate is good for colds.

Perhaps most surprisingly, chocolate even works effectively as a cough remedy. Scientists at Imperial College London discovered that theobromine, one of the stimulants in chocolate, is a third more effective in stopping persistent coughs than codeine, the medicine most commonly used. The theobromine suppresses the nerve activity that causes coughing, and it is thought that the viscous quality of melted chocolate could help soothe tickly coughs. -- http://news.independent.co.uk/health/article3260693.ece

I don't have a cold yet, but I really feel that I should test this. And if I don't come down with a cold afterwards, then I'm sure that proves something.

(Such as the fact that I like chocolate.)

We found this out recently. We have been giving my oldest son a piece of bittersweet chocolate (more cocoa and cocoa solids than milk chocolate) to help him with coughs and it works.

I also feel the sudden need for some prophylactic hot chocolate.

I have over 3lbs of hot chocolate in the pantry. Five different varieties. No, I don't have a problem. I can stop at any time. Just let me fix a drink first.
