I do find RTD's view of mother-daughter relationships rather depressing. So far three companions, three cases of mother nagging daughter or embarrassing her or otherwise being awkward. Even if said mothers did all throw in and help out in the end, it's becoming a bit of a pattern.
God, yes. That was my reaction to Donna's mom too. Can't he give a Companion a mother they get along with? Or at least one that's not a harpy at first. It's getting a bit tired.
