writing angst
Aug. 29th, 2011 01:37 amVery glad to hear that Hurricane Irene seems to have been less damaging than it might have been, and that everyone is so far safe and well. Stay that way, please?
Tomorrow is a bank holiday and therefore there will not be work. Hooray! There may be some cleaning, and some shopping, and some sewing. Possibly I should check out the long-sleeved tops that are coming into the shops in preparation for Autumn clothing. (Yes, I know that the seasonal fashions are always early. But the weather this year means that we may actually be wearing them now. Bah.)
Must draw up a shopping list for the quilt show this coming Saturday.
---
Book lovers are thought by unbookish people to be gentle and unworldly, and perhaps a few of them are so. But there are others who will lie and scheme and steal to get books as wildly and unconscionably as the dope-taker in pursuit of his drug. They may not want the books to read immediately, or at all; they want them to possess, to range on their shelves, to have at command. They want books as a Turk is thought to want concubines -- not to be hastily deflowered, but to be kept at their master's call, and enjoyed more often in thought than in reality.
