My Saiyuki manga and artbook have arrived. They are gorgeous. I wish that Beth and others could get here easily, so that I could show them, as my back unfortunately revolts at the concept of carrying the whole blinking lot across to America. (Not to mention all the other things I want to show Beth. I suppose I should be grateful she already has the English version of Rapaces.)
In other news, Brazil beat England, as every reader of this journal will probably already know. Oh well.
My characters for Ambercon UK scenarios (that is, for players in games which I will be running) continue to accumulate. Good.
Em informs me that I must see Minority Report. Mental note made.
I managed to locate/translate two characters in my brand new Japanese dictionary today from the front of the Saiyuki manga. Okay, so I couldn't manage the third one. But still, a start.
This attitude is somewhat out of fashion in popular fiction, but I like the quote.
"You can offer me nothing that I desire," he said. "I am the servant of my country, and her enemies are mine. I can have neither part nor lot with you. That is my answer, Madam von Einem." _Greenmantle_, John Buchan
