reading the instructions helps

Astonishing discovery: careful reading and application of my sewing machine's instructions about "how to do applique stitch" produce a better result than just grabbing the zigzag stitch foot and having a go at it. Also, tacking stuff in place before machine-appliqueing round the edges provides a better result than pinning/zigzag stitching round the edges. Also fewer broken needles from when a stitch hits a pin. I'm sure there's a moral in this somewhere.

Two days left. Ah well, it's been a nice week.

Interesting question! Should I go for something elemental, as in the wedding ceremony?

(Or should I just make something in blues and purples and then say cheerfully that of course it's a Lord Alchemist quilt?)

*giggle* Elemental is one form, certainly. For an alchemy quilt, you'd want grays, browns, and greens, though... (Well, modern Cymelian alchemy, that is, after the somewhat fractious and not precisely consensual inclusion of herb-witches into the guild. Prior to that, it was grays and some browns, and herb-witches got the brown-and-green tradition.)

Grays, browns, and greens would be the logical thing, then, except that I know you're not so keen on browns. Hm! I will have to think about this. :)

I've just worked out what to do. :)

I have a nice brown/green/grey/red selection of strips. I will make a quilt with them and put it up on Etsy (or elsewhere) and call it "an Alchemy quilt inspired by Elizabeth McCoy's Lord Alchemist books" with a link to them, bien sur.

And then I will make you something else that you will personally enjoy more. ;) (Not sure what yet. Will think on this!)

I will get down to it... er, once I have finished the two quilts I'm currently doing on commission for my coworker's great-nephew and great-niece. (The dinosaur and flower fairy ones.) So for the moment I've only put aside the fabric and worked out the measurements, I'm afraid...
